1 out like a lamb, 2 in like a lion...

For Logan's last two (and only) birthday's his actual birthday has been nice, sunny, and warm.  However, the weekends that we've had his parties have been less than nice.  Last year I was upset and irritated by a little grey and rain that moved his party from my outdoor plan to the cramped indoors.  Little did I know what the 2nd birthday had in store for us!!

Kendall had to work till 8 on Logan's actual birthday so Logan and I had a little of Grandma Baker's mac & cheese and enjoyed a cupcake together.  Logan mostly just wanted to keep blowing the candle out :)

On that Friday, Tina came over for pizza and a mini celebration with Paw Patrol and cake!!

I knew the planned forecast for Saturday was calling for some rain, but since we were just having family over I wasn't too bothered by it.  Since I had Friday off I prepped and mostly cooked all the food leaving just some cleaning and wrapping for Saturday... Good thing since mid morning Saturday we had a freak windstorm start!  No rain...but super strong winds knocking over trees, busting our gate and knocking out power across Western WA for H O U R S!!!!!!!  Power went out at our house around noon and didn't come back on for about another 12 hours.  Crazy... at that point (since the food was done and we have a grill) it was just humorous.

Decorations were up and ready... This year we went with a cars and trucks theme since Logan seems to really like them.

Kendall helped me paint the Logan Garage sign :)

Took all family members hours (literally) to get to our house... from almost and hour to up to 2 hours.  Mind you on a normal Saturday it would take at most 30-45 minutes for Jared and Laura, who live the furthest, to get here.  But, thankfully we had wine ready and open as the grandparents, uncles, aunt and cousin arrived.
Next it was time for gifts!

Kendall, Uncle Kevin and Grandpa (my dad) started the grill and camp stove and went out to the deck to grill ribs and reheat the mac & cheese (which turns to mush when you reheat on a bbq burner...).  I wish I had taken a picture of the three of them huddled around the stove and bbq, under the deck umbrella, with rain coats on in the calmer wind and rain (ok, so there was some rain that day), but of course I didn't think to take a pic! :(  It was a funny sight though...
We had dinner by candle light, lots of candle light!
Logan really liked carrying the lantern around and playing with his gifts!
Then we had cake!
My mom made the cake and dad frosted it!

Singing "Happy Birthday" in the dark

All-in-all it was quite entertaining and definitely a day to remember.  Next year we might change the weekend we celebrate.... :)
